You're probably here because you've just been recruited to the loving arms of the EVE Online coporation Superstructure Exposure Service, or, as we like to call it: WIDIA. No? Well, I may have evilly tricked you to visit the site. Do not be disappointed! The educational material here is public for all to see and can be useful for your EVE Online Career.
You're probably wondering what this means, and why did I say 'Your soul is mine.' when I accepted your application. Well, basically because it's true. This may or may not be your first corp in EVE Online, but we'll try to make your stay enjoyable. EVE is a game about competition and consequence. Joining a corp can have many consequences. In this case, I sincerely hope that the consequence will be that you learn or re-learn how to enjoy yourself in a game where nobody can tell you what to do.
OR, if you're not yet in [WIDIA], it's time to consider. There may be more renowned or organized corps out there, but I beg to differ. [WIDIA] has a soul that you may find attractive as you read through the material here. If you do, you might want to consider joining up, don't you? Some of the following lines probably address you as well...
For the hapless newbie
You're probably here because you saw the link somewhere and couldn't overcome your instinct to click it. Well, this time you're in the good place, but please stop doing that - you never know when you're going to click on goatsex or a scam in local. Also, some links are particularly dangerous to your EVE experience. So stay a while and listen.
You're about to begin a journey that many people began before, in many cases never really getting there. We here at [WIDIA] will try and help you. The first thing you need is a starter pack of the following:
- Willingness to learn. This sounds trivial, since you're still there, but I have to reiterate it, because nobody can teach you anything without you actually heeding their advice.
- Patience. Most of the game mechanics in EVE are based on waiting, as you may have already noticed with your skill training.
- Brains. No, seriously, how many of you people stop playing just because you don't want to think about something on your own? I'm not going to chew your food for you, you'll learn nothing that way.
For the jaded carebear
You know about those people. You shudder when you see someone's name in a yellow bar or with a skull next to their head. Why can't we all get along, is what you ask. Making money in peace is fun, you muse. Why, then, is there so many people who try to kill each other, you may ask?
Well, look and ask no further! You have a place in [WIDIA]. Your place is to be shown otherwise. Your hands will be shaking, your eyes will be darting from left to right, and you will have fun! We'll show you what else can you do with your stupid amount of ISK other than buying expensive ships and modules. There's a lot more to EVE than watching the cargo fill with stones or swatting red crosses. I know this may be scary or sound stupid at first but you'll probably experience something you never did before, so why not give it a try?
For the bitter veteran
I know, I know, you've tried everything, you barely log in to switch between your month-long skills. You probably have distinct ideas of 'fun', and I'm not trying to interfere with that. However, there's one more thing that's I bet a Machariel is more fun than what you're thinking right now! I you know it all, why don't teach others about it?! These peopel are just starting off, they have the fire you lost probably long ago - and that fire is contagious! Come and shake off the bitterness. [WIDIA] needs you, too!
